Research in the Bio-Optics Laboratory in the department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers is directed by Dr. Nada Boustany. Our research is focused on developing minimally invasive, optically-based quantitative cell analysis methods for cell biology, biotechnology and cytopathology. The laboratory’s interest is in optically measuring subcellular dynamics during fundamental biological processes, such as cell death, cell growth or cell differentiation. Our goal is to use these measurements for diagnostic purposes and to understand the role of organelle structure in the execution of specific signaling pathways.
