Research in the Bio-Optics Laboratory
in the department of Biomedical Engineering
at Rutgers is directed by Dr. Nada Boustany. Our research is focused on developing
minimally invasive, optically-based quantitative cell analysis methods for
cell biology, biotechnology and cytopathology. We are interested in measuring
subcellular dynamics during fundamental biological processes, such as cell
death, cell growth or cell differentiation. Our goal is to use these
measurements to understand cellular and organellar structure-function
relationships. Key Words: Cell Analysis, Apoptosis, Subcellular Structure and
Dynamics, Mitochondria, Cell Mechanics, Cell morphology, Quantitative Optical
