Exercises: setting conventional NIC names


  • Start kvm3 VM: 
    virsh start kvm3
  • Login to console of kvm3: 
    virsh console kvm3
  • On the VM, edit /etc/default/grub. Change the line from: 
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX=""
    to 
    GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="net.ifnames=0 biosdevname=0"
    Run command 
    update-grub
    Edit file /etc/network/interfaces and change ens3 for eth0
    Reboot kvm3

  • When the system boots up, command ifconfig -a should show Ethernet interface eth0.
