NIS FAQ

  • After modifying /etc/ypserv.securenets on a NIS server, can not bind a NIS client, delay with starting ypbind. Make sure /etc/ypserv.securenets contains the client in its list. If the server is also running NIS client, include its IP address as well: 
    255.255.255.255         192.168.5.12
255.255.255.255         192.168.5.22
