Spring 2005 Semester

The course will be offered again in Spring 2005 semester under 14:650:485:03 index 54828 as Special Topics in Mechanical Engineering Departmental Elective. It also has been approved as Technical Elective in Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. All interested juniors and seniors from the School of Engineering are welcome to register. Due to limited space and number of workstations, the total number of seats is 16. Non-MAE students need to obtain a special permission number from Robyn (robynl@jove.rutgers.edu) to register. The course lectures will be taught in EIT lab (Engineering D-110) on Wed. period 3 (11:30 -- 12:50 am). Practical recitations will take place in the Unisys lab (Engineering D-112). Two or three recitations a week will be scheduled on the first lecture meeting to provide the most convenient times for all the students; each student should attend one recitation a week. Most of the topics will be close to those in 2004 (see Syllabus), however since Red Hat became completely commercial, the course will be based on Debian Linux.

Note: due to a high interest in the course, the roster became full by December 1 2004. Requests for special permission numbers are no longer accepted. If you have a special permission number, but haven't registered yet, please do it ASAP, otherwise, it will be given to someone in the waiting list for the course after January 7 2005.
