Mission
Statement
Our research focuses on
design, innovation, modeling, optimization and control aspects
of advanced manufacturing processes and systems. The research in modeling of advanced manufacturing processes includes
analytical, thermal and computational modeling of the physical material removal and deformation processes at
multiple-length
scales, constitutive material modeling, friction, tribology and wear.
Process planning and control research deals with developing predictive
models,
monitoring and controlling precision manufacturing processes and systems
under parametric uncertainty by utilizing sensory data, multi-objective
optimization techniques, and evolutionary computational algorithms.
