Research Area/Interests
Prof. Kear\'s current research activities are focused on the synthesis and processing of nanophase materials by aqueous solution, melt-quenching and vapor-condensation methods, surface treatments by thermal spraying of nanophase powder feedstocks, liquid phase sintering of nanophase hardmetals, pressure-assisted sintering of nanophase oxide and non-oxide ceramics, diamond, fullerenes, and carbon nanotubes, and superplastic forming of nanocomposite ceramics. The primary thrust of the research is to establish structure-properties processing relationships in nanophase coatings and bulk materials.
